How the Moving Quote Comparison Tool Works

A transparent explanation of entered totals, missing terms, completeness, and neutral comparison facts.

Purpose

The tool organizes details from two to four written moving estimates so users can identify differences and questions. It does not rank, endorse, verify, or recommend moving companies.

Fields compared

Primary fields cover company identity, carrier or broker role, estimate type, base quote, packing, storage, deposit, extra-fee terms, coverage, pickup and delivery windows, and cancellation terms. Optional advanced fields record known service charges, quote dates, payment or rescheduling terms, and notes.

How comparison totals are calculated

An estimated comparison total starts with the entered base quote and adds only explicit packing, storage, extra-fee, unpacking, access, shuttle, bulky-item, and other known amounts. A total is unavailable when no base quote is entered.

Treatment of included and unknown costs

An included service contributes no separate entered amount. A service marked not included is displayed as such. Empty, not specified, and not sure values remain unknown and are never converted to zero.

Missing-field detection

The model checks important comparison terms including company role, estimate type, packing, storage, extra fees, coverage, pickup and delivery windows, and cancellation policy. Missing fields are listed by name without creating a numerical quality score.

Question generation

Each missing structured field maps to a fixed factual follow-up question. Questions are generated from rules in the application; no AI service analyzes or evaluates a mover at runtime.

Quote completeness

Quote completeness measures how many of twelve comparison fields contain usable information. It does not measure mover quality, legitimacy, safety, reliability, or trustworthiness.

Why the tool does not rank movers

The lowest entered price or fewest unspecified fields cannot establish service quality or suitability. The summary reports objective entered differences and deliberately provides no winner, grade, rating, or recommendation.

Limitations

The tool cannot confirm whether entered information is accurate, complete, current, or enforceable. It does not verify registration, calculate omitted charges, interpret contracts, or predict the final price.

Update policy

Fields and rules are reviewed when the comparison workflow or supporting editorial guidance changes. Stored browser data remains under the user's local browser controls.

Sources

The current calculation and completeness rules are internal organizational logic. No external validation study is claimed. Verified official sources will be disclosed if regulatory interpretation or automated verification is added.
