Moving Data

Moving Company Guide publishes documented datasets and research only when the underlying data, methodology, definitions, and limitations are ready for public use.

Moving Company Guide publishes data only when we can document where it came from, what it covers, how it was cleaned or calculated, and what its limitations are. We do not publish fabricated market averages or synthetic samples as observed moving-industry data.

Current Data Availability

No public datasets are currently available.

We publish data here only after the dataset, definitions, methodology, and limitations are ready for public use.

How We Publish Moving Data

Any dataset promoted to this page is expected to document:

  • Clear source and provenance
  • Defined geography
  • Defined covered date range
  • Sample size, where applicable
  • Field definitions
  • Cleaning rules
  • Inclusion and exclusion rules
  • Missing-value treatment
  • Calculation and aggregation methodology
  • Limitations
  • Version and publication date

What We Do Not Publish as Observed Data

We do not present the following as real, observed market data unless it is actually supported by a documented dataset:

  • Fabricated moving-cost averages
  • Synthetic user samples presented as real data
  • Made-up city or state statistics
  • Unsupported provider performance metrics
  • Fake review statistics
  • Invented hourly, per-mile, or per-pound rates
  • Opaque trust, safety, or scam scores
  • AI-generated numbers presented as collected data

Synthetic examples may be used for testing or demonstrations, but they must never be presented as observed market data.

Dataset Standards

Every future dataset entry should include the following fields, documented on the Methodology page and, where applicable, on the dataset's own page:

  • Dataset name
  • Version
  • Publication date
  • Last updated date, when substantive
  • Covered date range
  • Geography
  • Source / provenance
  • Sample size, where relevant
  • Field definitions
  • Inclusion criteria
  • Exclusion criteria
  • Missing-value handling
  • Aggregation rules
  • Known limitations
  • Revision history

Data Limitations

As a matter of publication policy, any dataset shown on this site is subject to the following:

  • A dataset may not represent every region or move type.
  • Sample composition can affect results.
  • User-entered tool data may be incomplete.
  • Provider pricing changes over time.
  • Methodology may evolve as sources and processes improve.
  • Published aggregates should be interpreted in context, not as guarantees.

Privacy and Data Handling

Any future first-party aggregate dataset should exclude unnecessary personally identifiable information and document how source records are transformed into public aggregates. See the Privacy Policy for how this site describes contact information, analytics configuration, and other data handling.
