Seven Movers Fined By Washington State Regulators

Last week Washington state regulators fined seven residential moving companies (the commission does not regulate interstate moving companies) for operating illegally without permits. An administrative law judge at the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission (UTC) ordered six moving companies operating illegally to cease providing moving services until they obtain the required permit. A seventh company failed to appear and received an unconditional fine. Details in the following table:

The Washington UTC enforces consumer protection and safety regulations for more than 200 residential moving companies operating within the state. Movers must carry proper insurance, keep their vehicles safely maintained and charge appropriate rates.
