Pick of the Moving Company reviews from around the Web during the previous week.

New Home Moving and Storage logoGwynn Watkins has posted details on RipoffReport of her move from California to Utah with New Home Moving and Storage, San Mateo, CA. She says the company quoted her $2700 but the final bill was $7400, some items were missing or broken and she was subject to verbal abuse from their customer service personnel. An earlier report claims that the company sought to have a bad Yelp review removed by blackmailing a customer. At the time of writing Better Business Bureau had 13 complaints listed against New Home Moving and Storage since March 10, 2013. Be warned!

Sunshine State Moving logoAlso on RipoffReport MaLez says that Sunshine State Moving, Pembrook Park, Florida have been holding his belongings hostage for the last 3 months. When the company doubled the original contract price he decided to dispute the bill. Now the company keep adding charges for storage fees and are also threatening to put his belongings into auction. Better Business Bureau give Sunshine State Moving the lowest possible rating (F) and report that they have received 21 complaints about this company in the last year.

Einstein Moving Company logoAlthough as a consumer organization we tend to report on the rogue moving companies here on Moving Company Guide, it’s not all doom and gloom. Einstein Moving Company of Austin, TX got its 72nd five star review on Yelp last week. A quick glance at the reviews, the company website and the Facebook page will give you a clue as to what to look for when researching moving companies. Nice touches like, before your move they will tell you which of their movers will be doing your move so you can look them up on their website before they show up. All of Einstein’s movers hold a college degree and are trained by the company owners themselves before they can touch your belongings. Good moving companies do exist and this is one of them!

I totally agree with the bad reviews on New Home Moving & Storage Co. Same thing happen to me and people who had their furniture delivered before me, according to the mover who delivered my furniture.

On 9-18-13 the movers loaded my furniture on their truck and told me it would be 7-10 days for delivery, I was given a price of $1350. It end up costing me $2800. I have to same number of boxes and items, so there was no extra items on the day of moving. I was very accurate in the description of what I had.

My furniture was finally delivered 10-17-13. They told me they had some problem with the driver, but the independent mover who delivered my furniture told me my items have been in a warehouse for 3 weeks before they got it. Many of my items damaged or broken and scared up.

I had seen other reviews on this company and believe some of the reviews are padded. I also found out that they have no accreditation with the (BBB) Better Business Bureau.

I believe companies are like people. We all may mistake, but this is a practice with New Home Moving & Storage at 840 Gateway Dr., San Mateo, CA. That’s why I recommend PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.
