Multnomah County Sheriff Office and ODOT mount a sting operationPortland’s Family Movers has been cited for the second time in fifteen months for illegally operating a moving company and using unlicensed drivers. As on the previous occasion they were caught in a sting operation by Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) compliance officers.

This time an ODOT employee posing as a customer contacted Ryan Bosma the owner of Portland’s Family Movers and made a booking. On the appointed day two company employees, Sean Stipe and Robert Spomer, arrived in a rented truck to perform the move and were naturally surprised to be greeted by officers of the Multnomah County Sheriff Office.

Following inspection Sean Stipe was cited for failing to have a valid operator’s license and for failing to have a current medical card. Bosma was charged with conducting household goods operations without a valid certificate (again). Certification in Oregon requires household movers to show that they have insurance and conduct criminal background checks on employees.
